PSL: WV GOP casts doubt on upcoming election with proposed legislation
But make no mistake—neither party is interested in a “free and fair” election...
This week, five Republican lawmakers introduced a proposal urging the West Virginia Legislature not to recognize the outcome of the upcoming presidential election if found to be “illegitimate” by the legislature.
While it is clear that this is a blatant tactic used by Republican lawmakers to cast doubt on election results and potentially overturn the election, the reality is that neither ruling class party is interested in a “free and fair” election!
According to House Concurrent Resolution 203, a presidential election may be considered to be illegitimate if a candidate is barred from having ballot access or if intimidation and information suppression is found to be present.
The irony is that both ruling class parties—Democrat and Republican—have united to ensure that regardless of which candidate is in the White House come January, corporations, billionaires, and warmongers will still come out on top.
In this election cycle alone, the Democrat and Republican parties have launched multi-million dollar campaigns to ban third-party candidates, such as Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia, from having ballot access in states like Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, despite obtaining tens of thousands of signatures from working people eager for change.
Additionally, while both Trump and Harris were given 90 minutes of prime time television during the presidential debate to spew misinformation and lies about immigrants, praise Israel’s genocide in Palestine, and obscure the issues facing working-class Americans, third-party candidates were once again shut out of the conversation.
Neither ruling class party presents real solutions to the many issues facing working-class West Virginians. The right-wing policies pursued by the Republican Party are deeply unpopular and the Democrats offer nothing but Band-Aid fixes, if any at all.
Working people across the United States—including West Virginia—know that the corporate duopoly is a sham. It is for this very reason that GOP lawmakers are working to undermine the election results before a single vote is counted.
But make no mistake—neither party is interested in a “free and fair” election because that would mean bringing an end to the dictatorship of the rich and placing power into the hands of the people!

Yes fair elections aren’t going to happen. Both sides believe they can cheat so they’re not interested in reform. The game is rigged. I say change the playing field and the game. Right now it’s pay to play. What happens when we stop paying? What happens when we organize no spending days like kick it off on Black Friday. Make Buy Nothing Day. Start with one day. Expand. It requires organization and got to get the numbers. Think about it. Mass deportations for example. The focus is on jobs(even though unemployment is low) but ask yourself if on top of the cost of deportations can they make up the money being spent by immigrants? Yes they spend money. Women spend money. This thing is based on spending money and money flow. They gave us checks during COVID because they were afraid that there would be a decrease of money flow. The trick is developing strategies to make it easier. To be honest if a week or maybe several weeks were possible it would freak them out. We have the power. I vote with my money only instead of being outspent by corporations I don’t spend. I think Ghandi used this. OK eggs too expensive? Get eggs from local farmers or just don’t have eggs for two weeks. The trick is the format so it’s doable and it’s fun. We can’t get anywhere in the game so change the game get them off of their turf
