Questions from Palestinian Christians to Americans
"Since when does God’s plan justify oppression?"

From Nawaf Al-Thani:
I recently sat down with a group of Palestinian Christians from Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Nazareth. They shared their struggles and asked me questions I couldn’t answer. Maybe our Christian friends in America can. Their voices deserve to be heard.
One of them asked: “We are Christians, living in the land where Jesus walked, yet evangelicals in America send millions to Israeli settlers who take our land while ignoring us. Why?”
If Jesus were here today, would he support those taking Christian homes in Bethlehem or the Christians being displaced? (Matthew 25:40)
Another asked: “We hear American churches talk about supporting persecuted Christians worldwide, but never us. Aren’t we part of the same body of Christ?”
1 Corinthians 12:26 says: “If one part suffers, all suffer.”
Does that not apply here?
A Christian from Nazareth told me: “We were raised to believe love and justice are at the heart of Christianity. But many evangelicals tell us our suffering is ‘part of prophecy.’ Since when does God’s plan justify oppression?”
Should prophecy be used as an excuse to ignore injustice?
Another asked: “Why do American evangelicals donate millions to Israel’s military but not to Palestinian Christians in need? Isn’t Matthew 5:9 clear?”
“Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Does peace only count if one side makes it?
Christian communities in Jerusalem are shrinking because of Israeli policies, but the same U.S. politicians who demand religious freedom for Christians in China and Iran say nothing.
Is defending Christian rights only important when it fits a certain narrative?
A Christian leader from Ramallah asked: “Evangelicals fought against apartheid in South Africa. Why do they support it in Palestine? Two sets of laws, segregated roads—how is this different?”
What makes Israeli policies against Palestinians “security measures,” but the same policies in South Africa were “apartheid”?
Another said to me: “Why do evangelicals speak about Israel being a democracy but ignore when it demolishes Christian homes in Jerusalem or bans Palestinian churches from expanding?”
If we truly believe in justice, why does it stop at Israel’s borders?
A woman from Bethlehem said: “When Jesus saw corruption in the Temple, He flipped tables (Luke 19:45-46). Today, evangelicals defend injustice in the Holy Land. Would Jesus?”
Does the Prince of Peace endorse oppression?
Before I left, they told me: “We don’t ask for much. Just that our fellow Christians see us, hear us, and stand with us.”
So, to our Christian friends in America: What do you say?
I say the Evangelicals are a political tool of Fascists. Nothing they do or propose identifies them as Christians. They spout verses that support their masters’ rule, but have no understanding of the context or of Jesus. It’s all just rhetoric and propaganda to them.
