Watch Your Step on MLK Day
The City of Atlanta crushed a homeless man to death with one of its bulldozers as the city attempted to clear a homeless encampment ahead of MLK Day...
From Professor Anthony Zenkus:
The City of Atlanta crushed a homeless man to death with one of its bulldozers as the city attempted to clear a homeless encampment ahead of MLK Day celebrations scheduled for Monday. They didn't check to see if anyone was in the tents. Welcome to Hellscape America.
In the last few days of the reign of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, in the city of Atlanta—a city run by Democrats—instead of giving permanent housing to the homeless, they bulldozed their encampment, turning all their belongings into trash, and threw them away.
One unlucky man, sleeping in his tent, was crushed to death under the treads of a City of Atlanta bulldozer. Like so much trash, he was thrown away. Pulverized, discarded.
A fitting end to the Biden-Harris era. An era that saw a 33% spike in the number of unhoused Americans who sleep in tents, praying before they go to sleep each night that they too won't be crushed to death beneath the bulldozer.
And if you dare ask your government, "How could this happen?" they will answer:
We would have housed them, but we needed the money to draw out the war in Ukraine—lest it end too soon.
We would have housed them, but we needed the money for the genocide in Gaza. For the nation that crushes Palestinian men and women to death—with bulldozers.
We would have housed them, but now is not the time.
Now is the time for death. Now is the time for the crushing of tents and bones.
We would have housed them, maybe in a few years—but you didn't give us the chance. You voted for the fascist.
He will regain his crown on Jan 20th. It's also MLK Day. That's why we had to clear the encampment, that's why we had to crush a man to death.
Can't have the unsightly sight of tents across the street from the Ebenezer Baptist Church—MLK's historic church—on the day we celebrate the birth of the man who was killed by the same government who wouldn't house the homeless—because there are wars to fight and Palestinians to genocide.
And anyway, we told you to vote for Kamala. Oprah even told you (for a million dollars), but you didn't listen.
So this is your fault. It's always your fault. And now we have to clean up the blood and guts of the man we crushed—with our bulldozer.
We'll use firehoses and wash him all away. But it's going to be cold, and the water on the pavement might freeze. So watch your step, on MLK Day, as you make your way to the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
“He had dreams, ambitions, he had family, he was a good, good friend of mine and he’s gone.”
The victim, identified as Cornelius Taylor, was killed Thursday when a Department of Public Works crew using heavy equipment to clear the site hit him. The incident happened in the Old Fourth Ward, on Old Wheat Street, which is directly across from Ebenezer Baptist Church, a historic landmark in the Civil Rights Movement.
“They’re bringing in all these people for Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend and wanted to present a pristine version of Atlanta. They want to pretend as if these issues don’t exist… These are communities of people, these are human beings.”
“Cornelius was great, man. He had a very positive attitude toward life despite his circumstances. He was a great artist, great friend… This was not just a tragic mistake. These are lives down here. Why do we need heavy equipment to move tents? It’s not like we’re bringing a wrecking ball in for a cinder block building. There are more humane ways of handing people.”
“It’s very important that Cornelius Taylor is not forgotten. Let’s not pretend that he didn’t exist, which I think is what happened here.”
