It's irrelevant what people think. If you're not free to protest genocide, freedom and human rights are meaningless.

Gee. For folks getting “disappeared” you sure have a lot of information about them.

That’s a lot of people who aren’t being detained or have willingly left for people being ‘disappeared’. Also, except for maybe the one who wrote the anti-Israel op-ed, a lot of valid reasons to have otherwise valid visas revoked.

I can’t speak for all US citizens, but my reply would be that trustees, board members and top administration officials must be removed and put on trial.

Students must be permitted to return and continue their education without tuition. That would be paid by those aforementioned trustees, board members and administrators.

It is a basic principle of justice that punishment must fit the crime.

I find that punishment most fitting.

How Intresting , you sound and speak in a far more sinister tone than those damn Right Wing Republicans you keep demonizing. Calling for much harsher measures with regards to sanctions on the school, administration, administrators, trustees, and put on Trial. So those right wing white nationalists have senate hearings, you have arrests, and trials, So Maoist of you.

Greetings, Mark L:

Law matters.

Curtailment of civil liberties constitute grave offenses whether perpetrated against those of the right, left or center. Such offenses are also and indeed, primarily offenses against the constitution.

I cannot guess what elicited your choice of the word, ‘sinister.’ But for what it is worth, law must be and be applied dispassionately and consistently.

The formula that punishments must fit the crime belongs to retributive justice. This is not to deny room for restorative justice, which is also an essential component of justice, and should be sought at the same time when possible.

Punishments suited to their crimes neither make light of offenses; neither are they overly oppressive as to create injustice in themselves. This is about proportionality. It is a good and necessary thing.

Because law matters.

And law matters because people matter.

This. I will add that many democrats have and continue to disparage people protesting against genocide. Senator Schumer in particular ‘abhors’ Mahmoud’s actions (yet states he should not be detained). Biden, Booker, Pelosi et al brought the process 1/2 way. What is happening is chilling.

This aging boomer says …

Trustees, board members and top administration officials who cooperate with these anti-constitutional measures must be removed and be put on trial.

Students must be permitted to return and continue their education without tuition. That would be paid by those aforementioned trustees, board members and administrators.

It is a basic principle of justice that punishment must fit the crime.

I find that punishment entirely fitting.

I fucking despise students. Student activism. etc

Why do the coddled: the bourgeois: the "elites" feel theyre uniquely qualified to screetch about governments?

Also: for whatever reason, all these foreign kids were at fancy, ivy league type schools.

Why isnt la migra going after students at State U and community colleges?
